Using the Mindspace Portal: Benchmarks

Last Updated: Dec 04, 2017 03:18PM AEDT
Benchmarks are a set of surveys that allow you to create a desired baseline to compare applicants against.  Before you can generate an assessment, you must first complete a benchmark and have an applicant complete a survey.

This page will tell you everything you need to know about benchmarks.

(If you only need info on how to manage a Benchmark, skip to step number 5)

1.  To start, select "create a benchmark for my role" from the drop down nav.

2.  Next, select the benchmarks you want to use in the assessment.
3.  Next, name the benchmark.
  • If the benchmark is for a role in your own company, we recommend simply using the name of the role.  That way, you can re-use the benchmark the next time you need to hire for that role.
  • However, if your are an agency hiring for another company, we recommend you add the name of the company to the benchmark name as well, (eg. "Gooroo - Senior Front End Developer") since different companies are likely to have different requirements.
    • For example, a startup will often want to hire a developer with different mindset, compared to a large established organisation.
    • Applicants will not be able to see the name of the benchmark.
4.  Next, click Save & manage participants.

5.  Enter in the names and email addresses of the individuals that will be completing the Benchmarks for this role.
  • This can be yourself, another individual, or a whole team can create a joint benchmark for the role.

6.  Click "Add Me" if you will be creating the benchmark or choose "Add Participant" if you would like to have someone else, like the applicant's future supervisor, to complete the Benchmark.

7.  If you are completing the Benchmark, click on the links next to "incomplete" and it will open the survey for the benchmark.

If sending it to someone else, click "Invite Participant" to send them an email to create the benchmark.

8.  Completing the Benchmarks
  • Work Style
    • A set of questions about the way that you want an individual to work in a role.
    • Uses this format:
  • Tech Thinking
    • 2 Questions about the kind of role you are hiring for, and the past experience needed for that role

9.  Done!
  • Next steps are to send surveys to an individual or a group.
  • Once Surveys have been completed, you can generate an assessment to see how they match up against your benchmark.

Hope this helped!
